Terms

    Terms of use

Short, because the site is simple: it shows published figures, it does not give advice, and it never holds your money.

Draft for review. This wording has not been approved yet and may change before it does.

    What this site is

Investor Lens publishes figures about Ugandan government securities, unit trusts and listed shares, read from what Bank of Uganda, the Capital Markets Authority and the Uganda Securities Exchange publish, and tools to compare them. Using it is free.

    Information, not investment advice

Nothing on the site is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. It takes no account of your circumstances, your tax position or what else you own. A plan from the guide or the builder is arithmetic on published figures and your own answers. Decide for yourself, and take advice from a licensed adviser where you need it.

    We are not a broker

We do not sell securities, open accounts or hold anybody’s money. Where a link takes you to a bank, broker or fund manager, what you do there is between you and them, on their terms. Where such a link earns us a fee, the page you clicked it from says so; the FAQ explains how.

    The figures

We read each figure from its publisher’s file and link to it, and each screen says when its figures were published. We check what we can, but a publisher can make a mistake and so can we, and a past return says nothing certain about the next one. Check a figure against its source before you act on it.

Prices and yields change after they are published. A rate shown here is not an offer from anyone.

    Your account

An account is optional. Keep access to your email address, because signing in is by an emailed link or code. Do not try to reach anybody else’s account, the admin pages, or the site’s internal services.

    Using what you find here

You may quote and share figures for your own use and in commentary, with a link back. Please do not copy the site wholesale or fetch it so often that it slows down for other readers; the publishers’ files are linked from every instrument page if you need the source.

    Liability

The site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for a loss that follows from relying on it. Nothing here limits a right you have under Ugandan law that cannot be limited.

Changes, and the law that applies

We will change these terms as the site changes, and date each version here. The laws of Uganda apply. [To be confirmed by the owner’s legal adviser.]
